lil wayne plea deal

Jailed rapper Lil Wayne in serving one sentence as we speak and just pled guilty to another charge of drug possession in Arizona.

Last week, rapper Lil Wayne pled guilty to a drug possession charge to a Yuma County, Arizona court, changing his original “not guilty” plea. As a result of his new plea, Lil Wayne, who appeared via video feed from his jail cell in New York, may not have to serve a prison sentence for drug and weapons charges in Arizona, according to the YumaSun.com.

The charge is the result of an incident on Jan. 22, 2008, when Lil Wayne was arrested after Drug Enforcement Administration officers found cocaine, Ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint
near Yuma. As part of the plea agreement, Yuma County Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves dismissed charges of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, weapons misconduct and possession of drug paraphernalia, although Lil Wayne could still face a 36-month probation term.

Currently, Lil Wayne is serving an eight-month jail sentence in New York for attempted criminal possession of a weapon, for which he will be released in October. The Yuma County sentencing will take place on June 30.
